Lighting
Good lighting is planned, not added

Most of the photos on this site are of lighting, because that's the part of electrical work you actually live with. The difference between a room that works and one that doesn't is usually decided before the plaster goes on: where the switches are, which lights dim, and what's lit when you walk in.
Inside
Pendants over islands and tables, downlights laid out to the room rather than a grid, wall lights and uplighters, stair and handrail lighting, LED strip under cabinets and in shower niches, and bathroom lighting and mirrors.
Outside
Garden, patio and path lighting, wall lights on the house, lighting around fire pits and seating areas, and outdoor power. Outdoor lighting needs the right rated fittings, protected circuits and cable that's buried or run properly, and we do it that way.
Control
Dimmers, two-way switching, energy-efficient LED throughout, and smart switching so you can control lights from your phone or on a timer, without replacing every bulb.

Questions
Lighting: common questions
Can you fit a light I've already bought?
Yes. Light fixture installation is one of the things we're asked for most. Check it's suitable for the room (bathrooms and outdoors need rated fittings) and we'll fit it.
Do you do garden and outdoor lighting?
Yes: garden, path, patio and wall lighting, lighting around fire pits and seating, and outdoor power. It's done with outdoor-rated fittings on a protected circuit.
Smart bulbs or smart switches?
Smart bulbs are fine for a lamp. For a room, smart switches are usually better: every bulb stays normal, the wall switch still works for everyone, and nothing needs pairing when a bulb goes.
Can downlights go in an existing ceiling?
Usually, yes, with access from above or careful cutting from below. We'll check the ceiling and joists first and lay them out to suit the room.
